Are you are in the market for hair styling shears? Please read this first:
Shear selection is a highly personal decision. How large a shear should I buy? What style handles and blades? What is the best steel and Rockwell hardness? Forged or cast shears? Opposing handle, off-set or crane-handle? Swivel thumb or bent thumb? Convex edge or bevel? Titanium finish?
Neither we nor another stylist or groomer can tell you which shear is right for you. Please do not buy a shear until you have had the opportunity to handle it - even cut hair with it first. Make certain that it is appropriate for your ergonomic good health, feels good in the hand and suits your style of cutting.
Looking Sharp is one of the few companies in the Fort Wayne, Indiana area that offers you a personal hands on opportunity before you make that critical buying decision.

Your livelihood depends upon the performance of your tools. Please don’t settle for second best. Call us today.
Scissors and shears are cleaned and the inside ride-line is hand honed on a bench stone. Convex shears are precision sharpened and polished with care on a low speed flat hone, removing the least amount of metal necessary for restoring a fine edge. The shear is reassembled and tension adjusted. Tips are matched. Worn or missing silencer bumpers, pivot washers, finger inserts, tension springs and finger rests are replaced as needed. The shear is oiled and tested for cutting performance.
Clipper blades are sharpened on a convexed flat hone machine, demagnetized and degreased. The sockets and tension springs are adjusted. Worn parts are replaced as needed. They are reassembled, tension adjusted and oiled. They are tested for cutting performance before returning them to the customer.
Knives, sporting knives and kitchen cutlery are precision sharpened using a variety of tools. The steel in your knife blade is never subjected to heat which could destroy its temper. Bevel angles are carefully controlled. We sharpen multiple edge profiles including beveled, convexed and serrated edges.
Looking Sharp advises against anyone using electric pull through grinders for sharpening knives - they can remove too much metal, overheat the steel and wipe out the tips. Bevel angle selection is severely limited. Sharpeners using such equipment can work fast and cheap, and you will get what you pay for.
